This fun and interactive class will introduce you to traditional hand-building and surface treatment techniques while pushing the boundaries with unconventional methods. We will explore how to shape clay, understand glaze application, and learn about what happens during firing.

The price includes lesson, clay, firing and glaze application by instructor. You will have the option to glaze your own pottery by signing up for a glazing class after the first firing process. (Glazing classes are on Saturdays and Thursdays and they are $30/class.) Bring your own beverage and snack and enjoy socializing while creating something special.

Clay Slab Faces - Beginner Friendy

Explore the expressive possibilities of clay by creating sculptural faces using slab building techniques. Staring with rolled out clay, students will  learn how to cut, shape and assemble features to make unique faces filled with personality. Essential skills such as joining techniques and surface texture will be taught through guided demonstrations.

Wayne Thiebaud Pastels

Participants will create vibrant paintings of cakes, pies, and other sweet treats using pastels. Inspired by the playful work of Wayne Thiebaud, students will learn to layer and blend pastels while exploring the elements of composition and color theory. The class will include demonstrations on how to use the materials and many examples of Thiebaud’s work for inspiration.

Create Your Own Zine

Have fun as you create your very own personified zine! Using a variety of materials, students will choose a theme and assemble a small book of eight pages that they can make multiple copies and give to friends. Zine, short for magazine, is a great way to explore a theme. Using pencils, collage, markers and other materials create your very own personalized Zine. Feel free to bring your own treasured photos or materials you would like to incorporate into the zine. Friday, June 12 from 6 pm -7:30 pm. Tuition: $55/person
