This fun and interactive class will introduce you to traditional hand-building and surface treatment techniques while pushing the boundaries with unconventional methods. We will explore how to shape clay, understand glaze application, and learn about what happens during firing.

The price includes lesson, clay, firing and glaze application by instructor. You will have the option to glaze your own pottery by signing up for a glazing class after the first firing process. Participants will create vibrant paintings of cakes, pies, and other sweet treats using pastels. Inspired by the playful work of Wayne Thiebaud, students will learn to layer and blend pastels while exploring the elements of composition and color theory. The class will include demonstrations on how to use the materials and many examples of Thiebaud’s work for inspiration.
